TARGET
The TARGET Program is a highly competitive six-week summer internship opportunity for Illinois high school sophomores and juniors who have a strong interest and demonstrated an aptitude for physics, mathematics, computer science, and engineering. The program’s design combines both work and experiential learning.
Technician Education for Careers out of High School (TECHS)
The Technician Education for Careers out of High School is an apprenticeship for Illinois high school rising juniors who have a strong interest in learning technical skills that can lead to careers as technicians at Fermilab. You must be a sophomore at the time of applying. The program’s duration is 10 weeks each for two consecutive summers.
VALOR JROTC Program
The VALOR JROTC Program is a highly competitive, paid, six-week summer internship opportunity for Illinois JROTC high school juniors, seniors, and recent graduates. Interns provide routine technical support for area of assignment; typically, an experiment or support group. Tasks are accomplished under direction supervision of a Fermilab employee and in cooperation with project teams, scientists, engineers, and support personnel and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
PRISM
Participants will delve into topics such as particle physics, quantum science, engineering design, and artificial intelligence, through hands-on activities, expert-led lectures, and exclusive tours of Fermilab’s research facilities. Each week focuses on a different scientific theme, enabling students to gain a comprehensive understanding of the diverse opportunities available in STEM careers.
